they worst company in world .DO NOT take them .They block my service for no reason and when i try to call them nobody answer i have to calll like i want new service they did pick up right away and then had to go from 1 person to 10 and no one could explaiend way the said is gonna take some time to find problem an people who work there hardly speak english.If you ask to speak to manager They don t have they all same scammers over charged people .DO NOT USE THEM IF YOU DONT WANT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS My biggest mistake

Please do not give your debit/credit number to Startec. When I first open up my account with them almost 2 year ago I asked them if there was any monthly fee , they they said no. For cell service is just as you go that you can only pay the minutes you used, no monthly or other charges. Afrer carefully look through my bank statement last seven months before I cosed my account in Jun they had been charging me an extra amount . They managed to take 27 dollers to finally close my account. Surprisingly I received the statement today from startec even though I closed my account in Jun and have not been using them since. I immediately called them to have him explain the charges. He said My account is not close and I need to pay monthly fee and because I have not been pay that there are late charges. I told him to close my account he refused saing not untill he receive money from me. PLEASE BE AWARE WITH THIS COMPANY. PLEASE MAKE OTHERS AWARE!

There not telling the truth if you are a new customer just liked what i've experienced to them twice.I ask them if they offer unlimited call to the philipines & they said yes.I ask them again that really it is unlimited?meaning i can talk anytime i want without any limits daily,24/7? They just kept saying yes we do have that product & if you signed up already & experienced hard time to call of course your gonna call to the customer service & that's the time that they gonna tell you that 'Oh ma'am you exceed your daily limits already,you can make a call again after 24hrs & that's ***!

I'd signed up to them cause they said its unlimited i can talk anytime what i want w/o limits.

And i was being *** again for 2nd time.They offer me there new product w/c is zero11 wireless w/c is unlimited call again to the Philippines for 5 globe or TM numbers but after i used it for almost 4 hrs talking to the phone i can't make a call anymore & it says I'd reach my daily limits. Again i called to the customer service & same thing i've used my daily limits that's why can't make a call. There supposed to tell there new customer that there product its not really unlimited like what the customer's are looking for.

There just gonna tell the truth after you you make a complain to them & after they took the money. There not being honest & there steeling money just to get new customers.

Enrolled yesterday morning cell prepaid for making calls to the Philippines after 20 mins got my confirmation in email tried to call Phil. Can't connect always busy , at 5 pm after numerous tries no avail.

Called customer service told me they made a ticket for troubleshooting .

At 6 am this morning CA time called me said its good now, 1240 noon still can't connect .so frustrating back to my old line vonage! Little expensive but reliable!

Just signed up with zero11 wireless and l am already having a problem, saying that my balance is too low when I did not even use any minutes at all. They are big time scammers.

They need to be reported to the BBB and they need to be out of business. They are using Sarah G to get customers. BAD NEWS... don't sign-up.

If you call their customer service they are rude and not helpful at all and when I told them I will send it back and refund my money they told me it's non-refundable. ALERT...ALERT...DON'T SIGN-UP.

STARTEC - TOTAL RIP OFF!!

i signed up for startec service thinking it's a good service since it is being endorsed by one of my favorite Filipino singer, Sarah Geronimo. I opted for the prepaid $25 service. After signing up online, I was hoping to receive a confirmation email in my mailbox, i did not get any. After a few minutes, I got a call from their support, and gave me the access number to call as well as the pin. I checked my bank account and saw that I was charged for $33.69. I called them again and asked why was I charged for $33.69 when i only signed up for the $25 prepaid account, the agent I spoke to said that its the additional fees, etc. I let it pass. When i checked my account again, I saw another charge from startec!!! this time in the amount of $33.68. I was so pissed off!! i haven't really tried their long distance service, yet I was charged again! i called to have my account cancelled and to have a refund. The first agent i spoke with was trying her best to give a slang accent!! the other was no good in english.. and the last was a little ok. They gave me a fax number so I can fax them a copy of my bank statement that reflected the double charge. So i tried the fax number.. guess what??? it's a non working number!!! geezzz!!! to think it's being endorsed by a well known Filipino singer??? you would think that the company is credible... THEY'RE NOT!! THEY'RE A TOTAL RIP OFF!! i'm so pissed off that i let them off the hook already. they can have my money!! i'm just gonna spread to all the people i know that they're a SCAM!!

Startec communciation is the biggest scam of this century!

Their customer service is awful ! You could ever get through to speak to a person. When you could get through their customer service rep's are rude til the max. we cancelled recently but bill after bill keeps showing up. Even though we spoke to the bbb and called into get cancelled. Excuses after excuses. That company needs to be sued or shut down or something worse! It should be illegal what they are doing to the blinded customers. Not to mention they *** a lot of people in by sending reps that speak's their language. They feel trusted

Startec Fraud

i haven't used startec since september 2010.i was surpised when i got my statement on december 2010 stating that i hav$6.xx balance and that it is now forwarded to a collection agency. i called startec and the agent (indian lady) told me that she doen't see that amount on my account.

i asked to be transferred to a supervisor (american lady).she told me that they have some problems in their system and that the balance will be removed.january 2011,i got another invoice amounting to $6.xx.so i called startec to ask why am i invoiced again when in fact i haven't used them for a long time.plus,they didn't credit back to me the $6.xx charged to me on december 2010. ver disappointed, i asked them to cancel my account (1st week of january 2011).i was told that they will cancel the january invoice and i will get a refund (by check) if i call back after 30 days for the amount charged to m,y credit card on dec 2010.february 2011,i received another invoice notice via email. i called them and they told me that i have another $5.xx outstanding balance. the supervisor told me that she will issue credits but i have to wait another month to call them and ask for a refund.

that's ridiculous! this is FRAUD!

Solution is really easy ask the bank that gave credit card to change the information on the card in this way they can't charge you anything cause they don't have access to the card anymore.

My mom was also scammed by Startec. Same tricks i.e.

delayed cancelling so they can continue charging her credit card and with the additional surcharges.

We're going to fight these guys by filing a complaint with the FCC and BBB first. If it gets legal then we'll file pro se.

Search Startec on the Better Business Bureau and you will see how many complaints they have. The most I ever saw for one company so far.

Hi! This is my second e-mail to you. I went to your website and entered my old phone # 973-###-#### and account # 301####830 and MY NAME @@@@@@ @@@@@@@ came up on the screen. We have a serious mistake here because I never made an account with you.

How does someone make an account with you? Do you have to give out social security # or sign something? Just trying to figure out if someone else has my personal information because I never made an account with your company. I do not know anybody overseas. Let me know what is going on with this because I really do not want to pay for something I did not use.

They said,

"As long as the person is over the age of 18 and states that they are authorized to make changes, it is a valid sale and all charges will stand."

Prett much anybody that answers your phone can make an account in your name with this company. They do not even have to give any information to prove who they are just a birth date which I think is just to check to see if they are over 18.

in december 2012 I made numerous calls to India; startec routed these call through my landline and I got charged by my long distance service provider and by startec;

do not use Startec; they will rip you off!

Startec is WORST lond distance provider!

Startec tried to bill me for $2.50 user fee, I declined to pay and closed account - now they have taken 6 months to actually close the account - they spam me constantly! I contacted the FCC, they are investigating. They continue to claim my account is closed, but yet credit "my account" for the $2.50 - they are total liars, spammers, and it is a nightmare to get away from them! Avoid them at all cost - sign up with TCI instead - a much better company. To avoid fee of $2.50 - just close account and don't pay. You have total legal right to do that.

Startec has just been the worst nightmare for me. Horrible service. Truly a scam company. I have never missed a payment in my entire life and I was determined to resolve the billing issue with this comapny. First month, I was cautious b/c i (being very naiive) signed up with them over the phone through a telemarketer; so i called international for only a few mins b/c i wanted to confirm the charges. I receive the first monthly invoice and, inconsistent with what they had told me after i had specifically asked, there were some "hidden charges". They were minor i thought, so i continued (first warning sign i ignored). So the next month, i called like i normally do and i receive my second monthly invoice. To my dismay, again inconsistent with what i specifically had been told, the "calls to mobile" charges were higher than the "calls to land line"(yet another sign). So I call to complain, and said i wanted to cancel my subscription with them as they were not consistent with me. Just one or 2 days later, a woman representative who spoke my native language called in from their company to inquire about what happened. She was very apologoetic and was verrrry nice and so i told her that i would reactivate my subscription but i dont want any more surprises or hidden fees. I go on making my international calls assuming rates are the same and AGAIN to my huge dismay i receive the monthly invoice of a ridiculous charge- almost 5 times as much as i typically used to pay monthly. I call them and find out they raised my rates without any prior notice. They claim that they had notified me over the phone that they would raise the fees but they NEVER did!!!!! I have almost begged for them to adjust the rates and told them i would settle the account immediately over the phone- but they refused. I even promised to continue with with my subscrition if they did, but they were determined on being short-sighted! Not only were they completely unprofessional, they were incredibly RUDE and irritating to speak to. And I can not begin to complain about the wait on the phone to get through: i literally timed the wait several times- over an hour!! I felt as though they could identify the number u're calling from and make u wait on purpose in hope that you would give up!! Im beyond furious now; I'm "simply" disgusted that such companies continue to rip us off. PLEASE ALWAYS reserach a company before signing up. That's the lesson i had to learn THE HARD WAY :(

I still dont know what to do, pay and get it over with?? or let them take it to collection?? So as my last attempt, I called in this last time, and spoke of my intention to be a good citizen and pay off the account (based on the higher per min charges of course) but requested they waive the late payment fees- over $4/month in late charges while i was disputing charges-- but again they refuse to cooperate!!!! It honestly made me sick!!! I'm mostly disappointed in myself to assume it was ok to sign up over the phone with that scam of a company!

To Satrtec: PLEASE shut your doors and leave us good people alone!

Startec - the worst Long Distance provider

If you reveive a telemarketing phone call from Startec, don't sign with them. Startec is the worst phone company ever existed! They double charged me, they cut my connection with Bosnia and my bill became higher and higher every month. Besides of that, when I have tried to switch to another LD provider, they stopped the connection and then they have threatened me with extracharges and fees for switching to Pulse Telecom, my new long distance provider. Man, it was a nightmare to get rid of them and to get another company! It's much easier to find water on Mars or to meet Bin Laden at a New Years Eve party, believe me!!!

Just an update.

Since July 19th - my communication with Startec has been a real nightmare.

I received all kinds of charges on my next bill, even "minimum usage fee" of $5.40 (even though I had way over $10), and since have been trying to straighten things out.

People from Startec who have brutally LIED to me so far: customer service, customer care (email), cancellation department, manager.

PLEASE DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THIS COMPANY!

I have been paying 4.99+tax to have the rate with my country (Serbia) pinned at 6.9c/minute.

Everything was going good for 4+ years, until July 2014, the month in which the number of my calls increased due to a family emergency.

Then the following happened...

In the middle of my billing month, this rate was increased to 11.9c/minute. Luckily, I went into my account online and caught the change 3 days later. I called Startec and they said the best they can do is reverse the fee of 4.99+tax. I also asked about the promo plan advertised on their website for 9.9c/minute, and the rep said I would get it for 3 months.

However, I checked back the next day, and instead of charging me 9.9c/minute they started charging me 13.9c/minute. I called them again, and they said they didn't have a record of my plan being changed to 9.9c and that this plan (still advertised on their website) was no longer available.

Cancelled the service immediately.

I called to the customer service several times during a week.

They charged me for 16 months and now I realized. I am filing a law sue against them. This is a fraudulent and steal to take out money without your authorization.

I will inform also my credit card company and I dispute the charges as fraudulent. They will go also after them.
